I stumbled upon a new fractal gallery today. Being a fractal fiend this excited me greatly and I spent a very enjoyable lunchbreak listening to “Wish you were here” by Pink Floyd and contemplating the fractal colours and compositions. If I had a beard, stroking it whilst studying the fractals would have been an excellent touch.

One of the Fractals is pictured above, they have been created by Melissa D. Binde and her website is fractality.com. Heres a link to my last post about fractals.

I love fractals they are both scientific and beautiful at the same time!

For those of you that don’t know what Fractals are Mandelbrot the king of fractals defined them as this:
“a rough or fragmented geometric shape that can be subdivided in parts, each of which is (at least approximately) a reduced/size copy of the whole”

Sven Geier has created some excellent fractal based artwork which he has put up on his site Fractal Bargin Bin and is encouraging people to do what they want with them!

I have used one of the fractals for the headers background texture on my Peteamania blog.

If you have a decent quality colour printer why not try printing some of them off and framing them, they make excellent retro-futuristic artwork. Then next time someone is coming round your house make sure your sitting in a chair listening to prog-rock and staring at your framed fractal. When they come in tell your visitor “oh you just caught me expanding my mind”, this is guaranteed to get you noticed as a intellectual and eccentric gentleman.
